Sutton House and Breaker’s Yard is an interesting and diverse place to work, and volunteers play a hugely important role in helping to keep it open to visitors.

Volunteers help with a range of activities from front-of-house and delivering tours to gardening, collections care and conservation.

We are proud to be a part of the diverse community of Hackney, working with community groups, schools and local families. We deliver a versatile programme and our volunteers are at the heart of everything we do.

Sutton House Music Society

Sutton House Music Society was formed as a direct result of the Save Sutton House Campaign, which ran in the late 1980s and early 1990s and campaigned for Sutton House to be open to the community.

It is a charity dedicated to bringing classical music to Homerton and Stoke Newington and has hosted music concerts at Sutton House for the last 30 years. The Society's musicians include first-class established international artists as well as rising young stars, playing a variety of classical music.
