Dam management during Invasive Species Week
Visit Prior Park this week to find out more about the dams restoration project and management of invasive crayfish.

Our crayfish volunteers will be creating a display and will be on hand to talk to visitors about the recent dams conservation project and the role American signal crayfish played in this.
As an invasive species the crayfish caused damage to the banks and dams that sit between the lakes at Prior Park which led to the paths collapse. In 2022 we completed a project to restore the dams and reopen the path that had been closed for seven years.
Now the crayfish are managed to limit future damage. The team will be onsite for three days to talk about the dams and how we're managing crayfish today.

Main entrance is on Ralph Allen Drive - crayfish information will be based near the lakes in the lower garden.
- What to bring and wear
Dress for the outdoors and wear sensible footwear.
- Accessibility
The garden is set on a steep hillside. The paths and ground can be uneven and the gradient is very steep in places.
