Avebury Manor and Garden

A day out with a difference

After a major transformation the Manor has now reopened to the public and the response has been fantastic. This is a National Trust day out with a difference, where you can sit down, touch things and really immerse yourself in the house.

You can now book tickets online.

Come and play

There's the chance to play billiards in the Billiard Room or just to sit and read a book. There's a Georgian exercise chair to try out in the dining room, and in the kitchen you can hear the bustling sounds of activity.

Avebury Manor has been empty since 2009 and while visitors enjoyed seeing the house like this, it was never a long-term option.

This groundbreaking project now means that many rooms have been furnished and the house has become a vibrant place where you can enjoy a journey through time.

There are also plans to use the building as a venue for community events including meals and parties, just as Alexander Keiller did in the past.

The Manor is now open, along with its beautiful garden. The garden is separated by ancient walls and topiary into a series of  tranquil 'rooms'. Just a few of these are highlighted below.

Follow in the footsteps of Alexander Keiller as you walk down the path in the East Garden. It leads from his museum in the Manor's stable block to the eastern entrance of the Manor itself.

Enjoy the topiary created here in the early 20th century, where you can spot designs directly reflecting those in the Tudor ceilings inside the Manor.

The Victorian kitchen garden has been recreated as part of the BBC series about the Manor and provides a walled haven in which to wander.
